Automating content review with AI: our internal playbook

Editing is the bottleneck in every content operation. Writers spend more time reviewing and polishing than creating. The irony: most edits are mechanical — grammar fixes, tone adjustments, style guide compliance — not creative.

We automated the mechanical part. Here's how.

The review pipeline

Every piece of content in Driomax passes through an automated review pipeline before it reaches a human editor. The pipeline runs four checks in sequence:

1. **Grammar & style** — Catches spelling errors, grammar mistakes, and style violations. Configurable per workspace (AP Style, Chicago Manual, custom rules). 2. **Brand voice compliance** — Scores the content against your brand voice profile on each of 12 dimensions. Flags sections that drift from your target range. 3. **SEO scoring** — Checks keyword density, header structure, meta description length, internal link opportunities, and readability (Flesch-Kincaid). 4. **Fact verification** — Cross-references claims against your knowledge base and provided sources. Flags unsupported statements for human review.

Setting it up

Create a review workflow in the Driomax workflow builder. Add the four review actions. Set the severity threshold for each — warnings vs. blocks. Configure notifications: email for blocks, Slack for warnings, nothing for passes.

When a writer submits content, it queues for review automatically. Most pieces clear in under 30 seconds. Pieces with issues get tagged with specific, actionable feedback:

> "Paragraph 3 drifts +15 points toward 'casual' on the voice scale. Consider more formal alternatives for 'a ton of' and 'super helpful.'"

> "Missing H2 header between 'Setup' and 'Configuration'. Consider adding a subheading for scanability."

> "Keyword 'content automation' appears at 1.2% density (target: 1.5-2.5%). Consider adding one more natural mention."

Results after 3 months

- Editing time per piece: 45 min → 12 min (-73%) - Grammar/style issues caught before human review: 97% - Brand voice consistency score: +42% - Writer satisfaction: "I spend my time on ideas, not commas."

The key insight: AI review isn't about replacing editors. It's about filtering out the mechanical work so editors can focus on what humans do best — creative direction, strategic thinking, and that indefinable sense of "this isn't quite right yet."
